Meet Carrie & Brock...our featured couple today....they are the cutest couple and Carrie tells me that their wedding is a true DIY wedding.....Echard Wheeler is the amazing photographer who captured their wedding story and I am so happy to have him stop by TBC...this is Echard's first visit at the cafe and it definitely won't be his last...not only is Echard awesome with "the camera"...he's also a super nice guy! So let's give Echard a huge TBC Welcome......Enjoy the wedding!
Carrie & Brock....Carries shares a little "411" with us..."We have vacationed in the Outer Banks for years and knew right away that it would be the perfect place for our wedding. We wanted a beach wedding with a laid back reception....something to fit our personalities. We found the perfect house in Hatteras...beach front...back yard and dog friendly. We wanted a very DIY wedding. We purchased cylinder glass vases to hold our large pillar candles and wrapped starfish around them. We filled clear candle holders with sand, and pink vases with roses lined the tables. My sister, mom and my aunts made all the bouquets.
The bridesmaids wore simple black cotton dresses from Victoria's Secret and the groomsmen wore light pink shirts from the Express. I wore my late grandmother's pearls for the ceremony and added a starfish brooch above the bustle for the reception. Our southern BBQ was prepared by a Hatteras local...pulled pork, shrimp, Cole slaw and baked beans. My mom, grandmother and aunt prepared pasta salad, vanilla whoppie pies, blueberry lemonade and iced tea and my mom made our wedding cake. Brock hung large Christmas lights from the pool bar across to the second story deck. The lights above the black and white dance floor were our favorite part...it added such a beautiful touch to the night. Our iPod acted as the DJ and it worked out great as we were able to listen to all of our favorite songs all night."
Carrie is so beautiful...I love her dress and the ladies did a great job with the bouquets!
"Priceless"...too cute!
I love Carrie's expression in this image....what a cute shot!
The "DJ"...aka...iPod!
Thanks Echard for stopping by today...we look forward to your next visit...and guys head over to Echard's site to check out more of his beautiful work..... and thanks to Carrie & Brock...we wish you both a lifetime of happiness and joy!

This is Carrie...the comment about my dress reminding you of a Vera made my day! This dress was purchased from Davids Bridal, the Gallina collection. I had several things fitted and the neckline slightly changed to make it more my own. I felt amazing in it and did not want to take it off! Perfect for a beach or outdoor wedding!
Thanks for the great comments on our special day!

This wedding is fantastic and I am loving that the bride rocked a black ribbon belt on her dress.

Hi there, noticed that Carrie had her iPod act as DJ which is what I'm hoping to do. Just wondering how it worked out? What equipment did you have to rent, etc.? Oh, and how did you work things out in regards to speeches, directing guests, announcing first dance, yada yada yada? Would love some advice!

Our ipod DJ worked out so well! We used a receiver and a bunch of speakers (we bought them). We hung the speakers all along the deck railing in front of the dance floor. The sound was plenty loud and very clear, we were really happy with the results. We loved playing all of our favorie songs and had a lot of fun designing the playlist. We burnt all the playlists on to CDs just in case something went wrong with our Ipod. We had bought a microphone but never used it, but that is another option. We went inside to cut the cake and do the speeches so we did not need any sound system. After the speeches we just said that we were heading down to do our first dance and then the father daugther dance, there was no offical announcement. We had about 47 people so it was small and intimate, everything just seemed to flow without having anyone actually directing the events. If you have any other questions I could help you with, feel free to email me at [email protected]. Hope this helps! Carrie
